Hello,
I have a 2007 Porsche Caymen. I have been trickle charging it in my driveway, but somehow the battery is dead.
Last year AAA successfully came and used the floor panel fuse to get the lid opened, with jump pack. Yesterday I called them and the person tried but could not get the lid to open with a charge.
Any thoughts on a mobile service that may have better luck, or is anyone available to try and help me.?
Appreciate any thoughts

I have a 2008 Cayman at my Florida home.. I would try the fuse panel again with a battery charger, you just need enough juice to have the trunk release work for a second.
There is a mechanical backup cable release for the trunk lock. It is meant to be used if part of the electrical system fails, such as the solenoid, so it’s not easy to access. You need to jack up the car, remove the left front wheel, remove the fender liner & you’ll see the loop pull handle of the cable. Crazy but true!
It’s much easier to use a 12V power supply at the fuse panel for a dead battery but if all else fails that’s an option.

I found this video that might be helpful in opening the hood with a jump pack.
Thinking the AAA tech may not have had a good ground, and there fore could not open the hood to give you a jump this time, so a Re-Call might be in order …

Plan B – if this is your daily driver, and you have AAA Premium Towing, it might be worth it have it flat bedded to South Shore Autoworks just over the bridge in Kingston MA, near Plymouth.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of a remedy. One would think there’s a manual bypass to open the frunk (front trunk) with a dead battery. Dumb question: Did you look in the owners manual?PatrickSent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device

Cathy, if you can put this on the New England Region Porsche Club page. I know someone will have an answer as I’ve seen this issue discussed before. I’m curious as I own a 981 Cayman on a trickle charger.

Morning. It’s not that hard to get at the cable. Helps to raise the car a little with a jack. Only have to partial remove the front section of the liner behind drivers front wheel. Plastic 10mm nut, and some T25 torx screws. Then prob needle nose pliers to grab cable.

The battery may be so dead that it could take a few minutes to get battery charged enough to work the electronic release. So patience a must using the drivers kick panel jump approach. Alternatively if all else fails there is a manual pull wire between the passenger headlight and the frunk but requires taking off front wheel and liner first.
