Clutch is slipping…1999 Boxster

When accelerating the rpms go up, but the speed lags. If I ease up on the accelerator, and nurse it up, I can get along OK. But obviously the disk is a little worn.

I asked for a quote and was told over $5,000. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure what $5000 covers but an IMS bearing replacement and new clutch ran me under $2500 two years ago.

$5k for a boxster clutch sounds very high.

VERY high. Does the quote include the dual mass flywheel?

So given the prior comments, you should consider the source , but if flywheel bad and no IMS issues to address then the reasonable cost is about 3k, let us know
